IBM recently launched its Turbo LAMP high performance LAMP stack. LAMP gets its name from its original four open-source components: Linux OS, Apache web server, MySQL database, and PHP support. The obvious name for running LAMP on IBM Power was “Turbo LAMP” since it performs and scales better than on x86.
In today’s demanding cloud, mobile and big data environments, Turbo LAMP delivers the performance and scalability needed. It enables PHP applications such as Magento and WordPress to be plugged in to create a supercharged web application platform.
The following are the reasons IBM can refer to it as a “Turbo” solution:
- Higher clock speeds
- 4x threads per core
- 4x higher IO bandwidth
- Higher throughput
- Improved response times
- Twice the reliability
- Self-healing capabilities
- Better diagnostic capabilities
