All things must pass: IBM has announced the end-of-service for three of its most successful storage systems. Service for IBM System Storage DS6800 ended as of September 30, 2015, while service for the DS8100/DS8300 Storage Systems will come to a close effective March 31, 2016.
Affected clients have been contacted via a customized letter from IBM informing them of the End of Service for these systems. The company will continue to provide maintenance support for these systems until the termination of their hardware (HW) services agreement, or the End of Service effective date, whichever comes first. Once either of these dates is reached, the DS6800 and DS8100/DS8300 machines will be considered ‘end of service,’ and they will need to be put on the new End of Service HW Support Agreement.
